Obama Stimulus Plan: Homelessness Up 50% In New York City

MYFOXNY.COM - If you think you've been seeing more people sleep on city streets, statistics back up the perception. The homeless population living on New York City streets has gone up 50 percent in the past year, according to city statistics reported by the HellsKitchenLife.com blog.

The New York City Department of Homeless Services conducts a yearly survey of the streets of the city to count the number of homeless who are not in shelters. The HOPE survey was conducted in January 2010.

The number of homeless in the borough of Manhattan was up 47 percent in the past year, according to the count. The 2010 count had 1,145 people living in the streets. That is up 368 from 2009.

Brooklyn had the biggest increase of any borough. It saw a homeless increase of more than 100 percent in 2010.

More than 1,000 people now live in New York City's subway system -- up 11 percent in the past year.

While the numbers are alarming, they are still at historically low levels and the ratio of homeless to the general population remains low compared to other major cities, according to the city. The HOPE survey showed a 29 percent drop in homelessness from 2005.

DHS works to prevent homelessness and also provides short-term emergency shelter. The agency seeks to help homeless individuals move from shelters back to permanent housing.

For example, the DHS says it provided temporary, emergency shelter to 8,230 families with children -- equating to 25,204 adults and children in July. But the agency says shelters have seen fewer families. From October 2009 through June 2010, shelters had 11 percent fewer children, who are now back in homes of their own

Stimulus Plan Anniversary I Would Like To Forget

February 17 marks the one-year anniversary of President Obama’s “stimulus” bill. While it has been a year since the Democrats in Congress and the President rammed through their ill-conceived plan, the effects of their deficit spending will be felt for generations to come.

Following enactment of the stimulus, the White House trumpeted its predicted effect on our economy. In a statement dated February 17, 2009, the Obama Administration asserted: “The American economy is in the midst of a crisis unlike any we have seen in our lifetime. The economy lost 3.6 million jobs in the last 13 months, the biggest job loss since the end of World War II. Many experts believe unemployment could reach double digits if no action is taken. In light of this historic economic weakness, President Obama is signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a nationwide effort to create jobs and transform our economy to compete in the 21st century.”

So, what has been “recovered?” As of January 2010, more than 16 million Americans are out of work with “real unemployment” exceeding 17%. Small businesses have seen little to no relief with “Stimulus/Recovery” funding only finding its way into state budgets and federal projects.

In other words, we now have a monument that should forever remind us of the failed policy of redistributing wealth and the truth that only a very limited government is effective.

I propose an immediate “Stimulus” package utilizing the unspent $500 billion: immediately eliminate capital gains taxes, the death tax, and the alternative minimum tax. Small businesses and those who will invest capital will do what they do best, create jobs.

The American people are right in clamoring for less spending and greater government accountability. The Washington spending spree has not helped our struggling families; instead, the deficit has gorged to historically critical levels at the hands of elitist politicians who don’t trust Americans with our own money.

It’s time for the federal government to live within its budget and its Constitutional bounds.

Congresssional Black Caucus Holding Finanical Reform Up For "Ransom"

The Congressional Black Caucus has joined a growing number of members of Congress who are holding White House Legislation up for "Ransom" to get there much needed votes to pass Financial Reform on Wall Street. There are members of the CBC who are frustrated with the pace of the economic recovery. The CBC is leading the way with criticism and anger at the Obama Administration because, of lack resources spent in the African-American community. The CBC is extremely angry because, the African-American Community has the highest unemployment rate at 15.2% but, real unemployment rate which is about 22%. The CBC wants more money from the 787 billion dollar stimulus plan, mortgage assistance for low income housing, job training and longer unemployment benefits. This financial reform bill faces strong opposition to enact sweeping changes to financial system while trying to create jobs in America. President Obama loyal allies in the Congressional Black Caucus, are mystified by the Obama administration handling of the economy. The CBC had no choice but, to block President Obama top priorities, using a a seldom used legislative maneuver to postpone the approval of financial reform legislation by a key committee. The recession has created a unique systematic risk that threatens all parts of the African-American community, including the poor and middle class,"said Rep. Maxine Waters (D-California), a subcommittee chair, in a statement after shutting down the vote. "I have always been committed to addressing the risk and will continue to do so. The critical issue is my constituents. The CBC has seen Sen. Landrieu (D-Louisiana) hold health care bill hostage and receive 300 million dollars for her vote so, the CBC has decided to join the party and get a piece of the Money Grab for the African-American community. Finally, when the Obama Administration and Majority Leader Harry Reid made a tremendous mistake when they decided to bribe Sen. Landrieu for her vote for health care because, they opened up a Pandora's Box, all Congressmen and Senators will now hold out for more money when they know President Obama is trying to pass crucial legislation in Congress. How long will it take before the African-American community finds out that President Obama is a incompetent socialist elitist liberal who could careless about African-Americans living in inner-city America. A Trillion Dollars Down The Drain

The stunning or stupid remarks by Dr. Christina Romer White House Economic Adviser when she said that the best of the stimulus bill has already been felt. Romer told a Congressional panel Thursday that by the middle of next year the $194 billion in stimulus funds spent in second and third quarters of this year will no longer be contributing to economic growth. Congressman Eric Cantor asked a simple question whether the stimulus plan has had the desired effect. Romer indicated that nearly $200 billion has been expended, another $150 billion allocated or already obligated. Cantor said, "But, really do the American people see the jobs? What is it that stimulus money really done? This is the final nail in President Obama coffin when it comes to the 787 billion stimulus bill. The stimulus bill was a payback to all the Unions and community organizations that supported President Obama during his campaign in 2008. The President and Christina Romer promised the American people that the unemployment rate would not go over 8.0%, but it has exceeded there projections and it stands now at 9.8% and is quickly moving towards 10%. This could be the worse use of federal dollars in the history of our great republic if this so-called stimulus plan does not meet the President expectation of creating 3-5 million new jobs. Therefore, if there are no jobs created by the spring or summer of next year there should be a full investigation on how the stimulus dollars were spent. This investigation will never happen because Rep. Pelosi and Sen. Reid will protect the "Messiah" and his failed economic policies. This is the Chicago-Style politics at it's best. The President learned his lesson well while in Chicago, make sure you payoff all your friends and they will always stay on the ship even if the ship is sinking. Unemployment Rate 28.9% In Detriot, Obama Stimulus Plan Utter Failure

The unemployment rate in the City Of Detroit rose to 28.9% in July. The highest unemployment rate since Michigan started keeping keeping modern numbers, according to the Michigan Department Of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth. 113,008 people in Detroit are without jobs, 277,815 are currently working. Despite State-Run-Media News of a so-called improving economy many residents of Michigan have not felt the Impact of President Obama 787 Billion Stimulus Bill. The state of Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the nation 15%. Other large cities in Michigan are extremely Challenges as well. The City Of Highland Park had a 36% unemployment rate in July, Pontiac 35% and Flint 28%. The President stimulus plan has been a utter failure for the people who need the help the most in America's major inner-cities. The President said, "On David Letterman that his stimulus plan was a tourniquet to stop the bleeding of lost jobs. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island said a second stimulus plan is probably needed and predicted that Congress is likely to act at the end of the year to inject even more money into the economy. Sen. Whitehouse and President Obama should have talked to Sen. Reid before making there statement on a second stimulus bill. Sen. Reid has slammed the door on a second stimulus bill even though President Obama said he, is leaving all options on the table when unemployment is close to reaching 10%. Sen. Reid Reid actually made a rational statement for the first time when he said, A little less than 90% still needs to be put out there to the American people and we are in the process of doing that. Finally, the Republicans who voted against this reckless stimulus bill and were proven right. The President and the Democratic Congress want a "Do-Over" so, they can waste another trillion dollars on President Obama failed economic policies. This is starting to become American economic doomsday nightmare scenario that could destroy our great nation within the next ten years.

Stimulus Jobs "Where are the Jobs"

The President and Democratic controlled Congress passed the 787 Billion Dollar Stimulus Package and many Americans are starting to ask "Where Are The Stimulus Jobs". The White House says the stimulus package has created 21,000 highway and transit jobs as of May 31. The number, one of the first counts of actual stimulus based employment is based on state reports to Congress House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Thousands of indirect jobs were created such as deli employees who prepare lunch for construction workers who produce the steel for projects were also created or sustained jobs. The White House says that 787 Billion Dollar Recovery Act has created or saved 150,000 jobs in the Administrations first 100 days. The President said during a speech a week ago that the stimulus package created or saved 600,000 jobs. The cost of one stimulus job is $92,000 per job according to the White House formula. Congressional Republicans who have blasted the Recovery Act as wasteful spending and won't create the number of jobs promised took issue with the Administration figure. Republicans criticized the Obama Administration for not reporting a specific number of jobs created or saved by stimulus plan based infrastructure spending. Republicans on the Transportation Committee pointed out the only 21,000 jobs were created , though the Committee Democrats have said the 64.1 billion dollars in infrastructure spending would create 1.8 million jobs. Republican leaders have slammed the Obama Administration for failing not to stem the rising unemployment rate. The unemployment rate is 9.4% in May and is expected to reach 9.6% in June when the new numbers are released on Thursday. The Democratic Party have made plenty of promises about putting Americans back to work but I think the question is where are the stimulus package jobs?. Finally, after spending almost a trillion dollars there better be some jobs by the end of the summer if Democrats want to stay in control of the Congress in the 2010 mid-term elections.

14% Unemployment In Michigan

President Obama promised American people if Congress passed his 787 Billion Dollar Stimulus Bill that the unemployment rate would not pass 8% nationally. The President has revised his numbers and said that the unemployment rate will reach 10% when the new June figures come out in early July. In, May the unemployment rate has reached 14.1% percent in Michigan and in Oregon, South Carolina and Rhode Island the unemployment rate is over 12%. There are large states like California and Ohio creeping up to 12% and that is not counting Americans who have stopped looking for jobs. The West and the Midwest by regions have the highest unemployment rates. The West has a average of over 10% unemployment and the Midwest is creeping up to 10%. The national unemployment rate is 9.4% and climbing fast and the President stimulus package is not stimulating the economy. The economy has been hit hard by the loss of manufacturing jobs in the automobile industry with the closing of several plants in the Midwest which is driving up the unemployment rate in Michigan and Ohio. The President had a great opportunity to stimulate the economy by passing a "targeted stimulus bill" that should have been only for job creation. The majority of the stimulus package money went to bailout states financial problems instead of spending the money on projects that could create jobs within six months. Therefore, in the stimulus bill there was no money for small businesses which create about 70% of the jobs in America. The President has spent most of his time bailing out large multi-national corporations like General Motors, Chrysler, AIG and Bank Of America. President Obama forgot about the true engine that drives the American economy and that is America's Small businesses. The President needs to come up with a new innovative strategy that will create jobs in the future. This so-called "Green Jobs Initiative" is Bull Crap and the average American knows that these are special interest jobs to satisfy the left-wing Democrats in America. The American people need a new futuristic jobs program that will help American businesses compete for the next 100 years. The President should lower taxes, cut capital gains and supply businesses with much needed capital if they are creating jobs. Finally, the President need to stop the Renaissance of the FDR Great Society Programs and come up with some new strategies that will inspire Americans to create a whole new American economy.

Governor Palin on Thursday became the first and only Governor to turn down federal stimulus money for energy efficiency, a move that Federal Administrators called disappointing for the state with some of the country highest energy costs. In announcing, the veto of the 28.6 million funds. Palin said she would not accept money to the adoption of building codes by local governments. Alaskans have a long history of independence and opposing many mandates from Washington D.C.. Palin said in announcing the veto. Gov.Palin had earlier accepted 900 million dollars in other federal stimulus funds. The Governor believes that building codes should be made by local and state governments. Democrat state legislators had urged Gov. Palin to accept the stimulus money, because they were close to the federal mandates. Sen. Begich a Democrat said, that nearly a third of the requests sent to his state office from local communities and nonprofits were related to energy reduction. With the highest energy prices in the nation it is disappointing that our Governor, is turning down Federal stimulus funds that could help out families and our communities reduce there energy bills. Begich said. The Democrats and some Republican will possibly override the Governor Palin veto. The state legislator needs three quarters of to override the veto. Finally, Gov. Palin said that there was not a lot of support for for the Federal government to coerce Alaska communities to adopt building codes.

Biden"150,000 Jobs Created By Stimulus Bill"

The Crazy ASS Vice President Joe Biden claimed last week that the Obama stimulus plan has created 150,000 jobs since, February when President Obama signed the Stimulus Bill into law. In the first 177 days of the two year Recovery Act Program, 150,000 jobs have been created or saved, "Biden said in a press release accompanying a report. The progress report on the Stimulus Plan released by the Vice President last week contained no such figure, nor did it reference any other document that might corroborate his claim. Recovery.Org does not contain information on how many jobs those tax dollars are creating. However, a spokesman for the Vice President said that they took the numbers published May 11 from the President's Council Of Economic Advisers. The report titled "Estimates Of Job Recovery and Reinvestment Act Of 2009" does not contain the 150,000 jobs figure either. In fact, the job creation numbers for the Recovery Act in the first quarter will not be out until August. The first full report is due in August 2009, the report states. Biden also, claims that the Stimulus Plan has created 3,000 transportation and construction projects in 52 states and territories. This is another missing number from his and CEA report. Finally, where did the numbers come from. The numbers came from a formula that would tell the administration whatever it wanted to hear. NO STIMULUS MONEY FOR IllEGALS

The were 75 members of Congress asked House Leaders on Tuesday to shut down a loophole allowing billions of in economic stimulus funds to go to some 300,00 construction workers who are in the country illegally. I believe that figure may be low Rep. Cliff Stearns of Florida told Newsmax.com. Stearns added that we owe American workers and American taxpayers that there money does not employ workers in our country illegally. In the 787 billion dollar stimulus package signed by President Obama included a that legal residency requirement in the United States must be verified by employers. The 75 members sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi and Minority leader Behoner urging them to protect American taxpayers and legal workers for these critical jobs protection provision in any future economic recovery legislation. The Center For Immigration Studies believes that the actual number of illegal hired under the stimulus package might be higher than the 300,000 estimated. The 300,000 only applies to the construction jobs not the spending sector that could add a large amount of illegal alien jobs. The Center For Immigration Studies believe since, illegals represent 5% percent of the workforce that they could get a extra 50,000 jobs from American workers. Hiring illegals runs counter to the objectives what the economic stimulus package because most illegals will send millions of dollars back to Mexico. It is still unclear who wiped out the verification provision in the Stimulus bill. There are only three people with the power to wipe out the provision and that is speaker Pelsoi, Majority leader Reid and President Obama. President Obama new Health Care System will provide Health Care for the uninsured 47 Million in America at last count. President Obama really believes that he, can turn water into wine because he, has some "Crazy Ass Followers". President Obama believes that he, can have every Socialist Program by taxing the "Rich", a fantasy only someone who knows nothing about human behavior much less the United States Tax System could possibly believe. The Presidents Plan of taxing the highest 2% of Americans start at $250,000 and Health Care Savings from different Federal Programs will pay for the New Health Care system. The 4 Million tax filers making a adjusted gross income of $200,000 paid "525 Billion Dollars" in income taxes about 62% of all taxes paid in 2006. The Obama Liberal Socialist Media will not tell you that the people making over $500,0000 a year will only pay for one years worth of Free Health Care for the uninsured in America. President Obama will be taxing is the small business owners who are the lifeline of American Business. President Obama is going to cut there deductions 20% which means they will have less money to pay there employees and less incentive to hire new employees that will truly, stimulate our economy. Finally, if President Obama spent more time in the real economy, not simply as a recipient of government and non-profit checks his whole life, he would be a little less confident in his Socialist Government Plans.

The President has High Approval Ratings because he, is acting like a "Populist President" but that also could be a serious problem for him because, economic populism has revived the Conservatives Movement in America. The American people cannot understand how Congress could pass a 789 Billion Dollar Stimulus Bill and no one in Congress read the whole "DAMN" Bill. The American Taxpayer is under attack by the Left-Wing in America when they see there hard earned money going to organizations like Acorn and Green Movement.
