David Nelson - Seven United Nations workers have been executed in the northern Afghanistan city of Mazar-e-Sharif, two of them by beheading, by demonstrators protesting the burning of a Koran at a church in Florida.
The victims of the worst-ever attack on UN personnel in Afghanistan included five guards from Nepal, and civilian staff from Norway, Sweden and Romania. Four local residents were also killed.
UN officials told The Daily Telegraph the final toll could rise as high as 20, and there were unconfirmed reports that the head of the United Nations Military Assistance Mission (Unama) in Mazar-e-Sharif had also been seriously injured
Local residents said about 2,000 demonstrators attacked UN guards stationed outside Unama compound, seized their weapons and began firing at police.
Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, a police spokesman, said the protesters beheaded two of the guards and shot others before scaling an anti-blast wall to topple a guard tower and set fire to buildings.
Few details were available on how the attack took place, but local residents said crowds began gathering there after a cleric at the city's central mosque urged worshippers at Friday prayers to call on the UN take action against Wayne Sapp, an evangelical preacher who burned a Koran at a service at a small fringe church in Gainesville, Flordia, on March 20.
The church is headed by Terry Jones, a pastor who threatened to burn a Koran in September, on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Even though Mr Jones called off his planned action in the face of global outrage, five people were killed in protests targeting Nato facilities in Afghanistan. Pastor Jones told Sky News in the wake of the attack that the US "must take action".
Following the Koran burning, Maulvi Qayamuddin Kashaf, had called on American authorities to prosecute Mr Sapp as a war criminal. Hamid Karzai, Afghanistan's President, had also described the Koran burning as a "crime against religion," and called on the US and UN to take action.
It is unclear how the demonstration in Mazar-e-Sharif turned violent, but Mr Noor said 20 "insurgents" involved in the killings had been arrested, suggesting they may have infiltrated the crowd. The crowd the turned on the guards outside the UN compound, and then settled
Mazar-i-Sharif is a relatively peaceful town, and was earmarked as one of the first where Nato troops would be replaced by Afghan forces.
There was confusion over the numbers of dead after Atta Mohammad Noor, the governor of Balkh province, said seven UN staff had been killed, including a woman. Later reports, however, placed the number at eight. Unama said it was aware of the incident, but did not disclose details on casualties, saying it was "working to ascertain all the facts."
Local police spokesman Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai said "two of the killed UN staff were beheaded." General Abdul Rauf Taj, a senior official, had earlier said that two guards were "shot in the head."
Ban Ki-Moon, the UN secretary general, described the attack as "outrageous and cowardly," while Barack Obama, the US president, said he condemned it "in the strongest possible terms." William Hague, the foreign secretary, condemned the "brutal act".
Security at Nato and UN buildings in Afghanistan had been upgraded in recent weeks amid fears of attacks in protest at revelations that a 'Kill Squad' of American soldiers had killed innocent civilians and taken photographs of the bodies as trophies.
The US government has apologised for the atrocities, but its officials have been braced for retaliatory attacks since the photographs were published.
The UN's representative in Afghanistan, Staffan De Mistura, has flown in to Mazar-i-Sharif to manage the crisis, and was last night meeting local Nato military commanders and the local chief of police.

Who Is Really Responsible For The Afghan "Killing Teams"
Jazz Shaw - Another disturbing story from the war front this week, covering what is being dubbed as the “Kill Teams” – rogue elements of US forces accused of intentionally killing unarmed Afghani civilians. Rather than a new item, this is apparently a story which took place more than a year ago and has been under investigation by the Army since last summer.
Early last year, after six hard months soldiering in Afghanistan, a group of American infantrymen reached a momentous decision: It was finally time to kill a haji…
While the officers of 3rd Platoon peeled off to talk to a village elder inside a compound, two soldiers walked away from the unit until they reached the far edge of the village. There, in a nearby poppy field, they began looking for someone to kill. “The general consensus was, if we are going to do something that fucking crazy, no one wanted anybody around to witness it,” one of the men later told Army investigators.
The poppy plants were still low to the ground at that time of year. The two soldiers, Cpl. Jeremy Morlock and Pfc. Andrew Holmes, saw a young farmer who was working by himself among the spiky shoots. Off in the distance, a few other soldiers stood sentry. But the farmer was the only Afghan in sight. With no one around to witness, the timing was right. And just like that, they picked him for execution.
While nobody is implying that this is US military policy, nor anything more than members of – potentially – a couple of forward units gone bad, the Rolling Stone article seems to imply that the investigation has been wide ranging. It also carries the flavor of something of a cover-up.
But a review of internal Army records and investigative files obtained by Rolling Stone, including dozens of interviews with members of Bravo Company compiled by military investigators, indicates that the dozen infantrymen being portrayed as members of a secretive “kill team” were operating out in the open, in plain view of the rest of the company. Far from being clandestine, as the Pentagon has implied, the murders of civilians were common knowledge among the unit and understood to be illegal by “pretty much the whole platoon,” according to one soldier who complained about them…
Even before the war crimes became public, the Pentagon went to extraordinary measures to suppress the photos – an effort that reached the highest levels of both governments. Gen. Stanley McChrystal and President Hamid Karzai were reportedly briefed on the photos as early as May, and the military launched a massive effort to find every file and pull the pictures out of circulation before they could touch off a scandal on the scale of Abu Ghraib. Investigators in Afghanistan searched the hard drives and confiscated the computers of more than a dozen soldiers, ordering them to delete any provocative images. The Army Criminal Investigation Command also sent agents fanning out across America to the homes of soldiers and their relatives, gathering up every copy of the files they could find. The message was clear: What happens in Afghanistan stays in Afghanistan.
First of all, I’m not here to excuse the actions of the soldiers in question. While none of us should question the bravery and integrity of our armed forces serving in harm’s way, any organization that large will occasionally attract some bad or unstable actors who slip through the cracks. Extended tours in a war zone can certainly serve to bring out these worst elements, which is a great loss, but it looks like the Army has already moved to eliminate the problem.
The real question here crossed my mind while watching more than an hour of television coverage of this story this morning, as well as reading the Rolling Stone article which is more than eight pages and I don’t know how many thousands of words long. Many names are mentioned, ranging from the individual soldiers involved and their direct supervisors all the way up to General McChrystal. But one name seems to be conspicuously absent from all of this coverage. Can you guess who it is? I’ll give you a hint… his initials are B.H.O.
When I suggested this to a friend this morning he responded by saying, “I don’t really agree that it’s right to hang every act of soldier misconduct on whomever is president. If a soldier gets drunk on leave, drives drunk, and kills a motorist, is it the president’s fault?”
It’s an important point. The president is definitely not responsible for every single action by every soldier acting badly such as in the example he cited. However, as the article points out, the Army seems to have been going to great lengths to keep this quiet and the investigation ran well up the chain to the highest ranks.
During Iraq, though you may disagree with me, I feel it was proper to hang the Abu Ghraib mess around the necks of President Bush and his top staff. It was a systemic problem of policy and responsibility for such things goes straight to the top. While these killings were certainly not Army policy, the investigation – and possible cover up- went so far up the chain that if the President didn’t know about it then something else has gone horribly wrong. So what was he doing about it for the last year? These seem to be the questions which are not yet being asked.
Iraq is still not “Obama’s War” in my opinion, since he opposed it from the beginning and has essentially continued Bush’s plans to draw down and exit. But by quickly doubling down and expanding our efforts in Afghanistan, Barack Obama has “bought” that war from George W. Bush and now owns it lock, stock and barrel. As such, he must be held to the same standards as his predecessor for the warts and rough patches as well as any potential victories.
Strangely, though, his name seems to be entirely missing from this conversation thus far.

Gang Members Coming Home From Iraq And Afghanistan With Military Training
Frank Mann - Being in a street gang is now forbidden for members of the U.S. armed forces. But you might not guess that if you were to visit U.S. military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to soldiers who have recently served there.
Jeffrey Stoleson, a Wisconsin corrections official, returned from Iraq in January with photos of gang graffiti on armored vehicles, latrines and buildings. Stoleson, a sergeant with a National Guard unit, was there for nine months to help the Army set up a prison facility outside Baghdad.

Gangs in War Zones"I saw Maniac Latin Disciples graffiti out of Chicago," Stoleson said, adding that there was a lot of graffiti for Texas and California gangs, as well as Mexican drug cartels.
A Chicago Police officer -- who retired from the regular Army and was recently on a tour of Afghanistan in the Army Reserve -- said Bagram Air Base was covered with Chicago gang graffiti, everything from the Gangster Disciples' pitchfork to the Latin Kings' crown.
"It seems bigger now," said the officer, who previously served a tour in Iraq, where he also saw gang graffiti.
Now back in Chicago, the officer said he has arrested high-level gang members who have served in the military and kept the "Infantryman's bible" -- called the FM 7-8 -- in their homes. The book describes how to run for cover, fire a weapon tactically and do the "three- to five-second rushes" seen in war movies.
"It's scary," he said.
In 2006, Stoleson saw similar graffiti in Iraq during another tour of duty there. That year, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on gangs in the military -- and published several of Stoleson's photos of gang graffiti.
Congress eventually banned members of the military from belonging to street gangs. And last November, the Defense Department added the ban to its rules.
Spokesmen for the Army and Defense Department said they could not provide figures on how many soldiers have been thrown out of the military or otherwise disciplined as a result of gang membership.
Stoleson, who stressed he was not speaking for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections or the Army, said it appears the problem is worse than ever. He warned that soldiers who return to gang life back home are especially dangerous because they know military tactics that they can use against the police and the public -- as a Marine did in 2005 when he killed a police officer and wounded three others in a California ambush.
"Gang members are coming home now with one or two tours," he said. "Some were on the field of battle."
Civilian contractors in Iraq are part of the gang problem overseas, Stoleson said. He said he was involved in destroying a large quantity of drugs confiscated from U.S. contractors in Iraq.
Stoleson, who is a member of the International Latino Gang Investigators Association, said some police departments in California are now tracking whether gang members were in the military.
A second Chicago Police officer, who searches homes for drugs and guns, said gang members targeted by his team are sometimes current or former members of the armed forces. That becomes part of the team's pre-raid briefings because the suspect is an increased safety risk with military training, the officer said.
"We recently arrested a guy in the reserves for crack [cocaine]," the officer said. "He was a gang-banger."
Stoleson said that, on his previous tour in Iraq, he was friends with a soldier who associated with the Maniac Latin Disciples when he grew up in Chicago.
"We talked a lot about it. He said the military was the only way he could break free," Stoleson said.
But those aren't the people Stoleson worries about.
"My problem is the guys who go into the military to continue the lifestyle," he said.
T.J. Leyden, a former white supremacist, was one of those guys. He said he recruited fellow members of the Hammerskin Nation into the Marines when he was in the corps in the late 1980s and early 1990s and sent stolen Kevlar body armor and helmets to fellow skinheads back home.
"I wore white supremacist T-shirts, and I hung a swastika flag out of my barracks," said Leyden, who was kicked out of the Marines for drinking and fighting. "I hated America. The only reason I was a Marine was because they were the baddest of the bad."
Leyden, who lives in Utah now, said he quit the white-supremacy movement in 1996 because he was worried "my sons were becoming me."
He began working against the movement and founded Straight Talk Consulting, giving lectures to students and advising the FBI, the National Guard and other organizations about gangs in the military.
Leyden said his informants have told him that skinheads and street gangs are still entrenched in both the regular military and the National Guard.
"The military needs to wake up," he said.

Rep. Rangel Calls For National Military Draft Again
Jennifer Fermino - Rep. Charles Rangel yesterday again called for bringing back the national draft -- right at the Times Square recruiting station.
For the third time since the Iraq War began, the Harlem Democrat announced his plans to introduce a bill requiring all Americans to serve in the armed forces.
"If you love your country, be prepared to serve," said Rangel, a Korean War veteran.
Congress should stop funding the war and, instead, use tax dollars to bring troops home, he said.
Rangel, who this year was stripped of his chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee, said the bill calls for men and women 18-42 to sign up for the draft during wartime. It will likely be introduced next week.

The End Of Afghanistan
Larry Johnson - We’re done in Afghanistan and so is General Stan McChrystal. McChrystal, who has been on the frontlines of combatting Islamic extremists since 2003 when he was put in charge of the Joint Special Operations Command, has self-destructed with the help of Rolling Stone Magazine. McChrystal’s problem? He’s not a politician and spoke candidly about his political masters to a journalist. That’s a no-no if you want to stay in your job.
Here’s the nuts and bolts of what’s going on:
You can read the full article here. (You also should take a look at Ed Morrissey’s piece at Hot Air).
McChrystal’s chain of command goes through David Petraeus. While Barack is ostensibly Commander-in-Chief, Petraeus is McChrystal’s immediate boss and should be disciplining his ass for this article. But that’s not going to happen. McChrystal is now a political football and will have to make some decisions. Is he going to pretend that he did not believe what he is reported as saying in the Rolling Stone article? If he does then the thing that has made McChrystal unique–a man of great integrity–will be tarnished.
The real damage here is that this distraction will ultimately make it impossible to sustain our effort in Afghanistan. I know there has been a lot of hand wringing about the continued war in Afghanistan and suggestions that we are losing. But I don’t think that’s true. In the past we always faced a late Spring/Summer offensive by the Taliban. That’s not the case this year (even though our casualties are up). The violence is confined largely to southeastern Afghanistan. We are not in danger of a military defeat.
Politically? That’s another problem. Stan McChrystal understood this part and proposed a strategy based on training and equipping Afghani’s to do the fighting and creating some space where the various Afghan tribes and factions could sort things out. That will be the ultimate outcome. We are not able to impose a government on Afghanistan that is politically palatable to the American people.

Here’s the nuts and bolts of what’s going on:
The top U.S. war commander in Afghanistan is being called to the White House for a meeting with President Obama after issuing an apology Tuesday for an interview in which he took shots at top administration officials and his staff described the president as unprepared for their first one-on-one encounter.Gee, Obama clueless about his military chiefs? How can that be (SUPER SNARK)?
In the article in this week’s issue of Rolling Stone, Gen. Stanley McChrystal also said he felt betrayed and blind-sided by his diplomatic partner, Ambassador Karl Eikenberry.
McChrystal’s comments are reverberating through Washington and the Pentagon after the magazine depicted him as a lone wolf on the outs with many important figures in the Obama administration.
It characterized him as unable to convince some of his own soldiers that his strategy can win the nation’s longest-running war and dejected that the president didn’t know about his commendable military record.
In Kabul on Tuesday, McChrystal issued a statement saying: “I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened.”
McChrystal has been called to the White House Situation Room on Wednesday to explain his comments to the magazine directly to the president, a senior administration official told Fox News. Normally, he would appear on a conference call for a regular strategy session.
The general was making a flurry of calls and decisions in the wake of the article’s publication. Fox News has learned that he fired the press aide, Duncan Boothby, who booked the interview. McChrystal also called Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen late Monday to apologize. Mullen told the general he was deeply disappointed, according to a senior military official at the Pentagon.
He has since spoken with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass, both of whom were described as attention-seekers by an aide in the article. Kerry said afterward that he has “enormous respect” for the general, while a spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai reportedly said Karzai “strongly supports” McChrystal and his strategy.
McChrystal is expected to reach Washington early Wednesday.
The article says that although McChrystal voted for Obama, the two failed to connect from the start. Obama called McChrystal on the carpet last fall for speaking too bluntly about his desire for more troops.
“I found that time painful,” McChrystal said in the article, on newsstands Friday. “I was selling an unsellable position.”
It quoted an adviser to McChrystal dismissing the early meeting with Obama as a “10-minute photo op.”
“Obama clearly didn’t know anything about him, who he was. The boss was pretty disappointed,” the adviser told the magazine.

Obama 'Dither" On Troop Levels In Afghanistan And Votes Present
The U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry in Afghanistan who is a influential adviser to President Obama has questioned the wisdom of sending any troops to Afghanistan because the Afghan political situation is unstable. Ambassador Eikenberry and Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton has serious concerns about Afghanistan corruption, poor governance and absence of rule of law within the country. President Obama does not plan to accept any of Afghanistan war options presented by his National Security Team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. Troops can would turn over responsibility to the Afghan Government, A senior government official said Wednesday. The New York Times and MSNBC actually knows President Obama decision before he, has his next National Security Meeting. The President is not convinced yet that you can do a lasting counterinsurgency if there is no one to hand it off to". Therefore, I can only assume that President Obama is leaning toward a benchmark system that by which reducing corruption in the Afghan government and training the Afghan army will determine how many troops are deployed. The President is making a big mistake if he, uses this strategy because, this a "Black and White" decision that has to be made with conviction. President Obama should give Gen. McChrystal the 40,000 troops to help bring stability to Afghanistan or bring all the troops home within a year. The President is starting to sound like General Obama and making political decision on how it will effect his popularity in the left-wing of the Democratic Party. President Obama told every American that Afghanistan was a "War Of Necessity" but with the pressure from the left-wing of the Democratic Party it has become, a obstacle in the way of bringing Socialism to America. It is only a matter of time before Obama humiliates United States Military and waves the "White Flag" in Afghanistan. Welcome To ObamAmerica.

Democrats "Throw those Worthless Humans To The Wolves"
Democrats really don't care about the human rights of people all across the world. The Democrats would leave Afghanistan and let the Taliban oppress and kill the indigenous population who supported the U.S. and NATO Forces. The Democrats use to be the party who cared about the human rights individuals all across the world especially in South Africa with the release Nelson Mandela and destruction of Apartheid. The tide has turned over the last 20 years and Democrats believe that human rights of individuals living in Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela and Cuba is none of our business. There are liberal left-wing zealots like MSNBC Chris Mathews who called President Bush and Conservatives "Interventionist" because they want to give human beings a chance at freedom all across the world. The liberal elite across America believe that the people in Iraq were better off living under the oppression of Saddam Hussein than having a free Democracy. The President and Democrats watched in silence when evil sick Iranian Regime killed and jailed thousands of there citizens because they wanted freedom. It took President Obama a week to speak out about the brutality that was going on in the streets of Iran. There is no way President Reagan would have been silent after seeing the video Neda being killed in the streets of Tehran. The Democratic Party are now embracing these brutal dictators like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez who is the darling of the left-wing elite in America. The Democrats hate President Bush who saved 50 million people from oppression and certain death. The Democrats rather call President Bush a warmonger who killed millions of people for his own personal agenda. The Democrats and World Community refuse to give President Bush credit for giving human beings a chance at having a democracy. The Nobel Peace Prize should have been awarded to President Bush protecting the world against Islamic Extremism. Finally, the new mantra for the Democrats should be "Throw those worthless humans to the wolves" because if you leave Afghanistan the sheep will surely be eaten.

U.S. Troops Need Help In Afghanistan
The men of Bravo company have a bitter description for the irragted swath of land along the Arghanddab where 10 members of there batallion have been killed and 30 wounded since the beggining of august. "Like Vietnam without the Naplam" Spec. Nicalos Gojekian of Katy, Texas. A prime agrucultral area of Vineyards and pomegrante Orchards that the 18 mile valley that the 1st Battiliaon and 17 Infrantry Regiment patrols including Taliban insurgents, bobby traps and buried explosives. The troops call the area the "Green Zone" but unlike Iraq where it is a fortified area in the heart of Baghdad, this green zone is a hellish place. The soldiers have one of the toughest tasks in Afghanistan, improving security and winning the support of villagers in a area where the Taliban have been gaining power. The battalion arrived in southern Afghanistan this summer as part of a brigade of more than 3,800 troops from Fort Lewis, Washington. the unit took there heaviest losses in august, when it had the highest casualties in what was the deadliest month so far in America's eight year war here. So, far the Army mission has been a uneasy mix of trying to woo elders with offers of generators, roads and other improvement while fighting a nasty war with a unseen enemy. We have had contact with the enemy almost everyday,"Lt. Col. Jon Neumann the Commander of the 1st. Battalion, 17 Regiment. Until we do clearing, we can't hold or build here right now. "A Reference to the U.S. counter-insurgency tactic"Clear, hold and build. Neumann said the perfect storm of factors have bolstered the Taliban in Arghandab. They include a successful Spring insurgency campaign, the death of a strong tribal leader who supported US- backed Afghan Government and wounding a charismatic Police chief. the American Military is up against a foe who is adept at creating unforeseen hazards. Finally President Obama will probably not make his decision to send troop to Afghanistan until November but with the conditions on the ground he needs to make the decision to send 45,000 troops in the next few days so, we can get some much needed help on the ground in Afghanistan. helped by Hal Berton McClatchy Newspapers.

Obama Throws America, Afghanistan And Israel Under The Bus
I am telling every American when the fighting in Afghanistan gets too tough this President eventually pull our troops out of Afghanistan before the 2012 Presidential Election. President Obama is willing to put our country at risk to appease the left-wing of the Democratic Party. This "Joker" told the American people during the campaign that Afghanistan was the "Good War" and a war of necessity to Defeat Islamic Terrorism Worldwide. This war was worth losing American lives over so who could secure the homeland. Well it has only been eight months and President Obama is changing his mind on the "Surge" in Afghanistan. President Obama hand picked man General McChrystal has asked for 45,000 additional American troops so, we can win the war in Afghanistan. I forgot that President Obama does not believe in the word "Victory" when it comes to Iraq and Afghanistan. I watched the President Obama hold a news conference about Iran Nuclear Weapons Program with France President Nicolas Sarkozy and Great Britain Prime Minister Gordon Brown. This was another political stunt like Afghanistan during the Presidential election, because we all know when the time comes to make a tough decision on Iran this President will punt the football. The Mullahs in Iran already know that Obama will not stop them from getting a nuclear weapon because they know that he, is weak on national security. Therefore, if I was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyauh I would not trust President Obama word because he is a "Charlatan And Liar". This President can't be trusted when it comes to the national security of America, Afghanistan and Israel. This "Joker" is a Community Organizer and Chicago political hack who is not ready for prime time. I will pray for America, Afghanistan and Israel because we will need to with this "Joker" sitting in the Oval Office for three more years.

Taliban Video Shows Captured U.S. Solider.
The American solider who went missing on June 30 from his base in Eastern Afghanistan and
was later confirmed captured, appeared on a posted video on Saturday to a web site by the Taliban. Two U. S. defense officials confirmed to the Associated Press that the man in the video is a captured solider. The video provides the first glimpse the public has had of the missing solider. The solider is shown in a 28 minutes video with his head shaved and the start of a beard. He is sitting in a and dressed in a nondescript, gray outfit. Early in the video one of his captors holds the solders dog tag up to the camera. His name and ID are clearly visible. He is shown eating at one point and sitting crossed legged. The solider who ID has not been released by the Pentagon pending notification of Congress and his family, says his name and his hometown, which is was released Saturday on a Web site pointed out by the Taliban. The solider said, the date was July 14. He said he, was captured when lagging behind on a patrol. He is interviewed in English his captors and he is asked his views on the war, which he calls extremely hard, his desire to learn more about Islam and the morale of American solders, which he said was low. Asked How he was doing, solider said in the video. Well I am scared, I won't be able to go home. It is very unnerving to be a prisoner. He begins to answer questions in a sober voice, occasionally facing the camera looking down and sometimes looking at the questionnaire on his left. He was prompted by his interrogators to give a message to the American people. To my fellow Americans who have loved ones over here, you have the power to make our government bring them home he said. Please, please bring us home so that we can be back where we belong and not over here, wasting our time and our precious lives that we could be using back in our country. Please bring us home. It is America and American people who have that power. On Saturday U.S. military officials in Kabul Col. Greg Julian, said the U.S. was doing everything we can tho return him safely. Julian and said, U. S. Troops had distributed flyer's in the area where the solider disappeared. One of them asked for information on the missing solider and offered a 25,000 reward for his return. The other said please return our solider safely or "we will hunt you" according to Julian. It seems like the Taliban is not following the Geneva Convention by showing pictures or videos of captured solders. If they will not play by the so-called rules of international warfare. Vice President Cheney was right to try and kill as many Taliban and Al- Qaedea members with CIA trained assassins. I will not show the picture of a "American Hero" who is being held captive a bunch Islamic Fascist Thugs. They will not use my blog for there terrorist propaganda purposes to destroy America.

Afghan War Is Obama War
The War in Afghanistan is starting to become a long tough slog for the Allied Forces. The Allied Forces have had over 30 casualties this weekend as the fighting has become more intense. The British Forces have had a tough weekend starting on Friday when they lost eight soldiers during "Operation Panther Claw". The wounded British solders were taken to Kabul and Britain. The Allied Forces have launched a operation in Afghanistan most violent "Helmond Province" which was partially under Taliban control. The Allied Commanders say they expected a surge in casualties this summer, part of what they claim to be a decisive push to take advantage of U.S reinforcements and seize Taliban Territory ahead of Afghan Presidential election next month. The Allied Forces have met tough resistance from Taliban. The Taliban feel comfortable fighting a insurgent war because they have won similar wars in history on this same battlefield against Alexander The Great and Soviet Union. The goal of the Taliban is to inflict as many casualties and injuries on Allied Forces so, the media and citizens of each country will turn against the war and will demand a withdrawal of there troops. Finally, this is going to be a fight in Afghanistan and I hope that President Obama and Democrats have the stomach to "Stay The Course" because this war may become even more bloody than the Iraq War. Remember President Obama said this is the Real War that America must win during the 2008 Presidential Election. This is now President Obama War. We Pray for victory and hope that all our troops will return home safely.

CHRISTIAN AID WORKER KILLED BY TALIBAN
In Afghanistan a British aid worker was gunned down by the Taliban in Kabul because she, was a Christian. Gayle Williams was shot down by two members of the Taliban who were riding on a motorbike in the capital city of Kabul. Gayle Williams was shot down in popular part of the city where christian missionaries live while, helping the people of Afghanistan. The witnesses of the crime said that she was shot six times and fell in a pool of blood. The "Taliban Thugs" raced up to he on there motorbike and shot her at point blank range and raced off the crime scene. This is the first time a international aid worker was killed in Afghanistan since. 2001. The Taliban said that they carried out the murder of the aid worker because, they said that Ms. Williams was trying to convert people to Christianity. Ms. Williams was working for a Christan based organization called "Serve Afghanistan" and the staff working for the relief program insists that the are not trying to convert anyone to Christianity. Mike Lyth the Chairman of the London based organization said that Ms. Williams was working with disabled children, blind children and deaf children hurt and mamed by the fighting in Afghanistan. Finally, her fellow workers paid tribute to Gayle Williams by expressing theses words that Ms. Williams was "Selfless" person who spent her time and energy helping others in need.
