Herman Cain Wins South Carolina 2012 GOP Debate

Brian Montopoli - To get an idea of the strangeness of the first debate of the 2012 presidential cycle - the unofficial kickoff to the 2012 GOP race - consider this: Based on the Fox News focus group conducted immediately following the event, Herman Cain is about to run away with the GOP nomination.
If you're wondering who that is, you're not alone: The former Godfather's Pizza CEO, who barely registers in national polls, has never held elected office. And he is seen as having virtually no chance to win the GOP nomination.
But the vast majority of the people sitting in with Republican pollster Frank Luntz said Cain had won the debate with his directness and straightforward delivery. (This despite the fact that when asked about what he would do in Afghanistan, he replied that he would rely on "the experts and their advice and their input." The Fox News debate moderators seemed incredulous that he did not offer a position.) Luntz appeared blown away by the response to Cain, which he cast as unprecedented. "Something very special happened this evening," he said.
Perhaps. But the debate was seen as such a non-event inside the beltway that House Speaker John Boehner spent his evening not watching it, opting instead to have a few drinks at a Washington steakhouse. "I'll read about it tomorrow," he told Hotsheet.
The absence of the biggest-name potential candidates - Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, even Donald Trump - meant the event it generated little attention despite its status as the first debate of the cycle. Among the five men onstage - Cain, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum - only Pawlenty is seen by Washington insiders as having a legitimate shot at the GOP nomination.

Pawlenty's goal was to look presidential - despite his relatively unheralded company - and he largely pulled it off. The toughest moment for the former governor was when he was asked to defend his past support for a cap-and-trade energy policy, which got a smattering of boos. Pawlenty explained himself in part by saying, literally, "nobody's perfect."
In perhaps his most interesting response of the night, he notably declined to take a shot at likely rival Mitt Romney over Romney's Massachusetts health care law.
"Governor Romney's not here to defend himself so I'm not going to pick on him or the position he took in Massachusetts," Pawlenty said. The intraparty sparring, it appears, will have to wait.
Pawlenty did find a way to go after President Obama on foreign policy -- despite the boost Mr. Obama got from the killing of Osama bin Laden. He said that while the president "did a good job and I tip my cap to him in that moment," the raid on bin Laden is "not the sum total" of Mr. Obama's foreign policy record. In other areas, Pawlenty insisted, the president has been "weak."
"The issues that have come up while he's been president, he's gotten them wrong strategically every single time," Pawlenty said. At one point, he referred to the United Nations as "pathetic."
Santorum, who was relatively combative much of the evening, complained that Mr. Obama "sided with the mullahs" during the protests in Iran.
"If you look at what President Obama has done right in foreign policy, it has always been a continuation of the Bush policies," said Santorum, who said Mr. Obama has "gotten it wrong" every other time.
The 90-minute debate took place at the Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina, a key early voting state. The candidates were not asked to engage with one another, limiting the fireworks.

The first applause of the evening came for Paul, who said the killing of bin Laden was a good opportunity to end the war in Afghanistan. Johnson, a fellow Libertarian, echoed that sentiment, saying the troops should come home "tomorrow."
Asked if they would support waterboarding terror suspects under certain circumstances - an issue rekindled by the killing of bin Laden, Paul, Pawlenty and Santorum raised their hands. Paul and Johnson did not. Both Paul and Johnson also discussed their support for barring the federal government from making drugs illegal. (Moderators pressed Paul on heroin specifically.) Paul drew another distinction with most of the men onstage when he said all foreign aid to the Middle East should be cut and that America should not be running secret CIA prisons.
Johnson, who supports abortion rights, became frustrated with debate moderators at one point, complaining he was not being asked enough questions. He also received the most frivolous question of the night, asked what his reality show would be about if he were offered one.
Santorum was pressed all night on being an extremist - he denied being "anti-Islam" or too socially conservative to win a general election - and pointed to his past electoral successes to cast himself as electable when debate moderators asked if Mr. Obama is unbeatable. (Unsurprisingly, he left out the 18 percentage point drubbing he took in losing his Senate seat in 2006.)
The also-ran nature of the debate was reflected in the fact that moderators asked a cluster of questions focused on the potential candidates who were not present. Paul was asked if Rep. Michele Bachmann had taken his mantle of Tea Party leader; Pawlenty was asked his thoughts on Huckabee. ("I love the Huck," he replied, awkwardly.)
The economy is the most important issue for a plurality of Americans, and the candidates certainly seized on it. Pawlenty, for one, called the National Labor Relations Board's bid to keep Boeing from building Dreamliner 787s at a nonunion plant in South Carolina "preposterous."
It was a good issue for Pawlenty (and Cain, too, who also cited it), because it allowed them to rail against big government, cast themselves as job creators, and spotlight an issue important to South Carolina voters. That's an opportunity they weren't going to pass up. (Indeed, Pawlenty focused on the same issue in a CBS News interview before the debate.)
Polls show a wide-open Republican race led by Romney, Huckabee and Trump, and Thursday night's likely-little-watched festivities were unlikely to move the numbers all that much. For the unknown candidates it was a chance to make a splash - and from that perspective, Cain certainly seems to have acquitted himself nicely. But with most eyes focused elsewhere, Thursday night is likely to be remembered -- if it's remembered at all -- as a footnote in the march to the nomination.

African-American Rev. Calls Accusations The Tea Party Is Racist "Out-And-Out Lie"

If you listen to Chris Matthews and MSNBC, you’d think the Tea Party movement is strictly white and teaming with racists.

The corporate media pushes this fallacy because it is the only card they have to play and because racism is such a divisive issue. If the establishment can portray the Tea Party movement as racist, they believe they can shut it down and marginalize its message.

Rev. C.L. Bryant, from Shreveport, Louisiana — who is black American — put this vicious propaganda to rest last year, not that we can expect Matthews and crew — who are obsessed with race and playing the race card — to cite Bryant is an example that black Americans support and are members of the Tea Party movement.

“A Louisiana minister says he hopes more pastors join him in the Tea Party movement,” the Associated Press reports today.
The Rev. C.L. Bryant has been addressing Tea Party rallies around the country. On Thursday’s federal tax filing deadline, he spoke at rallies in Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.

Bryant, who is African-American, says allegations that Tea Party activists are racists and haters are “an out-and-out lie.”

But he says, “This country, I believe, was given to us divinely, and Americans are not the type of people by nature to be ruled over.”

Here is a video of Rev. Bryant’s speech on September 12, 2009:

Coffee Party "Founder Is A Obama Supporter"

Billed as an alternative grassroots movement to the Tea Party, which has been for the most part absorbed by mainline Republicans and Neoconservatives, the “Coffee Party” promised to wake up politically minded Americans and offered a different avenue for the freedom movement.

However, the so called founder of the Coffee Party has been quickly exposed as an Obama campaign operative, whose caffeine concept was purely designed to undermine and co-opt the Tea Party ideology.

Described as “a documentary filmmaker who lives outside Washington”, Annabel Park has amassed some 40,000 members via a Facebook page.

“We’re not the opposite of the Tea Party,” Ms. Park, 41, told the New York Times. “We’re a different model of civic participation, but in the end we may want some of the same things.”

“We need to roll up our sleeves, put our heads together and work it out,” she said. “That’s, to me, an American way of doing this.”

The slogan is “Wake Up and Stand Up.” The mission statement declares that the federal government is “not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges we face as Americans.”

At first glance this sounds like attractive stuff to concerned Americans who are sick and tired of big government ruling over their lives. However, a quick background search on Miss Park reveals her real intentions.

Park campaigned for Obama in 2008 and was one of the organizers and operators of the influential United for Obama video channel at YouTube.

“I found that people have little understanding of the change that Senator Barack Obama is advocating. I thought from my experience in using videos for civil movements that videos would be the best way to promote the need for change and for Obama. That’s why I decided to work for the Obama campaign,” Annabel Park said.

She made over twenty promotional videos for the Obama campaign that drew tens of thousands of views.

Obama Supporters Blame Tea Party Activist For Terrorist Attack

In anticipation of evening cable news shows exploiting one man’s grievances against the IRS to smear the entire liberty movement, websites on both sides of the political equation are being flooded with messages from what appear to be Obama supporters calling the Austin plane crash an act of “right-wing domestic terror” committed by Tea Party activists.

Comments on both Democratic Underground and Fox Nation are blaming the attack on Tea Party activists and others in the freedom movement. They appear to be coming mainly from Obama supporters and liberals.

A selection of comments appears below.

————————————-

“This is a right-wing domestic terror act. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY – THIS SHOULD CONCERN YOU!”

————————————-

“Looks like one of the Teabaggers woke up on the wrong side of the bed. LOL. You nuts better not start doing this regularly.”

————————————-

“Not a single one of you is concerned that one of your own just committed an act of domestic terror. You are already attacking the messenger and they have not even brought the message in yet.”

————————————-

“YOU need to take an ounce of responsibility. All you repubbers are complaining about Bush but still putting all the blame for Bush’s errors on Obama or “The Government”. This plane guy decided to attack the Government. Pilot-guy sounds like a thousand posts I have read on thee boards.”

————————————-

“His “manifesto” is rank and file conservative/tea party/ repub rhetoric. I’ve read the same thing on these since before Obama was inaugurated. That dude would fit right in here, and maybe he did.”

————————————-

“These “anti-government” right wing hate machines really need to realize that violence will be done by their followers. People like Beck think about ratings, but when you tell enough people that the “government is out to get them” , sooner or later some of these people will decide to strike first.

We will see more domestic terrorism. People like the posters here need to accept responsibility to police themselves. You preach hate and destroying your enemies “foreign or domestic” and people will start blowing up innocent people because of the message you preach.

YOU did this, and I;ve no doubt more blood will be spilled because of you. Right wingers have a terrible (actually worse the dems) record of fiscal responsibility, small government, and unobtrusive gov: yet you are yelling that America is being attacked by democrats in this area.

STOP IT!

————————————-

There is no point in “dialogue” with you right wingers, you guys are the taliban of america.”

“Accept responsibility. One of YOU committed a domestic terror act. You should be thinking about that rather than insulting democrats as usual.”

“Another terrorist attack by the GOP/FOXZI/Aryan Nation, and there Teabagger storm troopers.”

NEW YORK STATE OPPRESIVE TAXES

The taxes in New York State is little more than highway robbery when you add up all the taxes and fees that the state have levied on the residents of New York State. The Clown Ass Governor David Patterson made a crude joke when radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said the he, was leaving New York State because of the high taxes. Governor Patterson said that he would have raised them faster if he, had known that Limbaugh was going to leave the State. This so-called millionaire tax is levied on residents making more than 300,000 a year is the reason why people are leaving New York State . The state has raised 100 new taxes and fees on the residents of New York State and there is no way you can escape these oppressive taxes. These new tax hikes are expected to bring in a extra 8.3 billion dollars to the coffers of New York State this year. The Governor budget did not cut any spending but increased spending 10 billion dollars in the 2010 budget. The ridiculous new taxes the residents of New York state have to pay is 5 cents for every bottle of water you buy. The other fees and taxes are car registration, boat registration, drivers license, fishing licences and surcharges that will make you sick. They are even hitting the residents of New York State with higher utility bill taxes during a recession. The Governor and his socialist minions slashed the only good program the state had for the residents of New York the "Star Rebate Program" where you would get a refund on your property taxes. This is why in Upstate New York you are having these large tea party's because people are tired of paying taxes to a incompetent government. The people in upstate New york are so, angry that the politicians are scared that they will lose there jobs. This clown Ass Governor is on Late Edition with John King talking about gay marriage when the people are getting killed with these new taxes. Finally, Governor Patterson should resign and the rest of the clowns down in Albany because the residents of New York State can not afford to pay anymore taxes to the state governments piggy bank. I have to go to work to pay for these oppressive taxes.

THE HATEFUL LEFT-WING MEDIA

The Left-Wing Media in America showed there true colors with there rhetoric and hatred of the Tax Day Tea Party's Protesters in America. The Left-Wing Media and Blogs attacked Americans for participating in these tax day protest. The main offenders of free speech by Americans is MSNBC who basically lead the charge against anyone who would dare complain about taxes, stimulus bill, government spending and bailout madness. The Host David Shuster, Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper were completely out of control calling members participating in these protests as "TEBAGGERS" which is a similar to terms used to attack Homosexuals. This is the type of rhetoric that the Left-Wing socialist media will use to protect there socialist movement in America. The Blogs like Huffington Post and Daily Kos were so, out of control that they also, used profane pictures and language to describe the Tax Day Tea Party's. The most shocking piece of journalism I have seen in a long time is when correspondent Susan Roesgen of CNN interviewed a protester in Chicago and she rudely, interrupted the man while he, was giving a answer to her question and she decided took a personal shot at the Fox News Network. This "Clown Ass Reporter" got on major news network CNN and repeated the Obama Administration talking points trying to discredit the Tea Party movement. This unprofessional conduct breaches the basic cannons of ethics of journalism. This type of child like behavior should not be permitted on a major news network. This woman should be in the Obama Administration with all the rest of the media members who have joined his team. I personally, think that CNN should fire Susan Roesgen as quick as possible for being a complete clown. This is the reason why MSNBC and CNN are far behind Fox News in the ratings battle because these two news networks have no respect for the Average Americans point of view. This is the final nail in the coffin for a large portion of the mainstream media. We all know that they are in the tank for the Obama Administration and it's socialist policies. The liberal socialist movement has been waiting almost 50 years to try and implement these socialist policies and they will destroy anyone who tries to get in the way of there movement. This battle against these socialist brownshirts is one we cannot lose or we will lose our great Republic to a bunch Fascist Thugs.

ACORN "CRASH TAX TEA PARTY'S"

The group Acorn plans to crash Tea Party's all across America. There will be a estimated 2,000 Tea Party's that have been organized across America by local citizens. The Organization Acorn and the Blog Huffington Post are planning a coordinated attacks against this populist Tea Party movement. The group Acorn says that they will be protesting in support of President Obama policies when it comes to health care, education and the economy. There will be members of Acorn who will try and infiltrate local Tea Party's and start trouble with average Americans. The Huffington Post said that they are going to have citizen journalist who will be taking video sand photos for the Socialist Blog Organization. The leader of the Sacramento Tea Party Mark Meckler expects liberal socialist Organizations like Acorn, Daily Kos, Huffington Post and MSNBC to try and infiltrate and disturb this grassroots campaign movement. Finally, the great thing about thing about these Tea Party's are the you can be a Liberal, Conservative and Libertarian to join this grassroots movement against the reckless spending in Washington D.C. This Grassroots movement is not a bunch of Conservatives angry because President Obama was elected President of the United States but his reckless spending that the Independent Congressional Budget Office says President Obama 3.6 trillion budget will increase our federal deficit to 10-20 trillion dollars over the next 10 years. The American people are tired of paying taxes so incompetent corporations can be bailed out by the federal government. The American people during a recession want to keep the hard earned money instead of giving it to local, state and federal governments who will spend the money on new socialist programs. God Bless The Tea Party's.
