Gun Rights Must Be Honored By States, Cities, Supreme Court Rules In 5-4 Vote

Bloomberg - The U.S. Supreme Court extended the reach of the constitutional right to bear arms by saying it binds state and local governments as well as the federal government.

The justices, voting 5-4 in a case involving Chicago’s handgun ban, said that individual gun rights were among the fundamental guarantees protected against state interference through a constitutional amendment after the Civil War.

The ruling broadens the sweep of the court’s 2008 ruling interpreting the Constitution’s Second Amendment as protecting the rights of individuals, rather than just those of state-run militias. It’s a victory for the National Rifle Association, which joined a group of Chicago residents in challenging the city’s laws.

It will open a new front in the fight over gun rights, setting the stage for courtroom battles over the constitutionality of weapons restrictions around the country.

Eagan knows that by painting the opposition as racist she can shift the debate from her actual record. By obscuring facts, Eagan knows that is the best way to argue for Sotomayor's favor, because her record is so indefensible. When Conservative African Americans or Hispanics are nominated by Republicans there are no cries of racism by Eagan and her liberal socialist friends. They minute they are nominated they are attacked by liberal media as sellouts to there race of orgin. The attacks on Clarence Thomas and Alberto Gonzales were terrible but you did not hear the loud calls of racism by the liberal media. This liberal strategy to use identify politics is dangerous in this country while, we are going through a terrible recession. The American people don't want to hear left-wing nuts like Eagan who calls everyone who disagree with President Obama a Racist. The Republicans are judging Sonia Sotomayor on her own statements and record that should be addressed in the open for the American people decide whether she is qualified to be on the Supreme Court. Sonia Sotomayor should not be given a free pass by the Senate because she is the first Hispanic to be nominated to the Supreme court, because would they give a white man a free pass.

Justice Clarence Thomas made on the of greatest dissents when he said, a judge's duty is not to decide whether or not law is wise or fair or even weather it is uncommonly silly. His duty is to do what the law says, and let the political branches change it if its silliness or unfairness manifests. Finally, this is Obama America where you are judged by race not your qualifications.

Supreme court Judge David Souter is retiring and now that leaves a opening for one of the most liberal Supreme Court Justices in the history of our country. The nomination of Justice Souter was the biggest mistakes in President George H.W. Bush Administration. Conservatives could have had a majority on the Supreme court if he, had made the right decision. This means Roe vs. Wade would have been overturned. It also means that our 2nd amendment Rights would have been protected by the Supreme Court. Therefore, one of the classic statements made by Bush Administration Chief Of Staff John Sununu said that the pick Justice Souter would be a "home run" for Conservatives. Justice Souter hit a lot of home runs against Conservatives while on the Supreme Court.
