Gallup Poll: Americans Don't Buy Left Wing View, Political Rhetoric A Big Factor In Shootings

Philip Klein - A Gallup poll further confirms that Americans are not buying the left's claim that conservatives were to blame for the Tucson shooting.

The survey found that 53 percent see the talk about inflamatory language in connection with the shooting as an effort to make conservatives look bad, compared with just 35 percent who see it as a legitimate point. Also, just 20 percent said rhetoric was a major factor, 22 percent saw it as a minor factor, and 42 percent said it wasn't a factor at all.

Asked who has gone too far in their rhetoric, in a more general sense, Americans viewed different groups equally -- 53 percent said Republicans and their supporters went too far, 51 percent said Democrats and their supports went too far, and 49 percent said the tea parties went too far.
